Connect with an API token
-
In Mimecast Awareness:
- Create a custom admin role for the integration with the least required privileges under Account › Admin Roles (Mimecast recommends a custom role for each API 2.0 application). The administrator doing this needs Read and Edit API Application permissions under the Service menu, and a Security Permissions setting that permits the management of application roles.
- Log in to the Mimecast Administration Console and navigate to Integrations › Integrations Hub. Accept the API Terms and Conditions if prompted.
- On the Mimecast API 2.0 tile, click Configure New.
- Under Details, enter an Application Name (cannot be changed once saved), choose the API products Safeguard needs under Products (cannot be modified once saved), select the custom role as Application Role, and add a Description.
- Under Notification Settings, fill in Technical Point of Contact and Email, then click Save.
- Copy the Client ID and Client Secret from the popup to a secure location (the secret will not be shown again), then click Close.
Mimecast Awareness shows the secret only once, so copy it before you leave the page.
Mimecast Awareness's public documentation does not cover every step.
