Compliance training
Assign security-awareness courses to your people, follow who has finished, chase overdue training and turn the results into compliance evidence.
Compliance training
Compliance › Training is where a tenant administrator assigns Safeguard Academy courses to the people in a workspace and follows who has finished them. It is the team side of Safeguard Academy: learners take the courses, and the assignment records who was asked to, by when, and what they completed.
Who can do what
| Action | Who |
|---|---|
| Create, change, archive an assignment, send reminders | A tenant administrator |
| Read assignments, the roster, overdue training, evidence and the CSV export | A tenant administrator, an auditor, or a compliance reviewer (the GRC role, or the compliance:read or compliance:review permission) |
Anyone else is refused with a message that names the roles that can read training.
Assignments
An assignment has:
- Title and the courses to complete, chosen from the courses your workspace can see, including private courses it owns.
- Who it covers: everyone, one group, or named people by email.
- Due date and recurrence, so a course can repeat every year.
- New-hire days: how many days a new hire gets to finish.
- Reminders on or off.
- What counts as done: completing the course (the default), or completing it and passing its assessment.
An archived assignment can no longer be changed.
Following progress
Each assignment shows how many people are assigned, completed, in progress, not started and overdue. Three views read across assignments:
- Roster: one row per person across the live assignments, with their courses, status, due date and completion date. Export CSV downloads the whole roster, or one assignment, and can include people who have left.
- Overdue: the people past their due date, with the assignment each one is late on.
- Evidence: the training results as they feed your compliance controls. Update evidence writes the roster into the evidence records for the training controls and marks records the roster no longer backs as stale.
Reminders
Remind emails everyone on an assignment who has not completed it, except people who were already reminded in the last day.
From an AI assistant
The Safeguard MCP server exposes this area through the mcp:compliance_training tools. Reads: safeguard_list_training_assignments, safeguard_list_training_people, safeguard_list_overdue_training, safeguard_get_person_training and safeguard_list_training_courses. Changes: safeguard_create_training_assignment, safeguard_update_training_assignment, safeguard_archive_training_assignment, safeguard_remind_training_assignment and safeguard_collect_training_evidence. safeguard_export_training_roster returns the CSV. Changes ask for confirmation before they run, and tools beyond the default read-only set are opt-in per workspace: see Tool availability.
