Connect with an API token
-
In Discord:
- In the Discord Developer Portal, click Create App, enter a name and click Create.
- Open the Bot page of your app. Under Token, click Reset Token and copy the token immediately.
- Open the Installation page. In Default Install Settings, for Guild Install add the
botscope; in the Permissions menu that appears, select only the read permissions you need. - Copy the Install Link, open it in your browser, select Add to server, and choose your server.
Where to find the other values:
- Account / Org / Workspace (optional): Not confirmed from a fetched page. The app's Application ID is on its General Information page; the server (guild) ID location was not sourced.
Discord shows the secret only once, so copy it before you leave the page.
Discord's public documentation does not cover every step.
Discord: 'You won't be able to view your token again unless you regenerate it.' Discord bot tokens have no read-only scope; access depends on the permissions granted at install. Listing all server members may need the privileged Server Members intent enabled on the Bot page; this was not verified from a fetched page. Base URL is not normally needed.
