Connect with an API token

  1. In SecureAuth:

    1. Sign in to SecureAuth Connect and open the Admin workspace (or the System workspace for System APIs).
    2. Enable client credentials: select OAuth › Authorization Server › Allowed grant types › Client credentials, then select Save changes.
    3. Create an application in the same workspace, choosing Server Web Application or Service Application.
    4. In the application's OAuth view, add client_credentials to Grant Types (for other application types, set Token Endpoint Authentication Method to Client Secret Post).
    5. Copy the client ID and client secret from the application's Overview page.
    6. Exchange them for an access token at https://\{tid\}.connect.secureauth.com/\{tid\}/\{aid\}/oauth2/token.
    7. Optionally go to the application's Scopes view and enable only the scopes it needs.

Where to find the other values:

    • Base URL (optional): Your SecureAuth URL, https://<tenant-id>.connect.secureauth.com/.
    • Account / Org / Workspace (optional): The tenant ID is the first part of your SecureAuth URL; the workspace ID (aid) is the workspace's authorization server identifier.

SecureAuth's public documentation does not cover every step.
