Connect with an API token

  1. In YouTrack:

    1. Sign in to YouTrack as the user Safeguard will act as. Creating a token requires the Update Self permission, and the user needs permission to read the projects Safeguard should cover.
    2. From the main navigation menu, select your avatar, then select Profile.
    3. Select the Account Security tab and click New token.
    4. Enter a name and, under scope, select YouTrack only (it covers the /api/... endpoints). Do not add YouTrack Administration.
    5. Click Create token and copy the token; as soon as you close the dialog you can't access it again.

Where to find the other values:

    • Instance URL: The https address you use to open your YouTrack server in the browser.

YouTrack shows the secret only once, so copy it before you leave the page.

A permanent token acts with the permissions of the user who created it; the scope only limits which services it can call. The role permission names for reading issues and users were not on the fetched page; the instance URL location is not stated on the token page.

The permissions Safeguard needs: Read Issue, Read User (Hub).

  2. On Compliance › Connectors, open YouTrack, click Connect, choose API token and fill in:

    FieldWhat to enter
Instance URLRequired. Your own server: an https address reachable from the internet.
Permanent tokenRequired. Stored encrypted and never shown again.
  3. Click Connect with token.

Frameworks

Safeguard's automated tests read YouTrack and map to the controls below. When a test passes, the result is evidence toward each control it maps to, in every framework listed. It is evidence toward a control, not proof that the control is met on its own.
