Connect with an API token

  1. In Redis Cloud:

    1. Make sure a Redis Cloud user with the Viewer (read-only) role exists for Safeguard.
    2. Sign in to Redis Cloud (cloud.redis.io) as an account owner. From the menu, choose Access Management and select the API Keys tab.
    3. If an Enable API button appears, select it to enable the REST API for your account.
    4. Account key: click Show next to the API account key, then Copy it.
    5. User key: click Add, enter a Key name (10 to 50 characters, letters, digits, hyphens and underscores, no spaces), choose the Viewer user as User name, and select Create.
    6. In the API user key dialog, copy the key. This is the only time the value of the user key is available; Finish stays inactive until you copy it.
    7. Optional: in the CIDR allow list column click Manage and add Safeguard's egress addresses.

Redis Cloud shows the secret only once, so copy it before you leave the page.

User keys inherit the selected user's role; Viewer is read-only. Steps to invite the Viewer user were not fetched.

    The permissions Safeguard needs: Viewer.

  2. On Compliance › Connectors, open Redis Cloud, click Connect, choose API token and fill in:

User keyRequired. Stored encrypted and never shown again.
  3. Click Connect with token.

Frameworks

Safeguard's automated tests read Redis Cloud and map to the controls below. When a test passes, the result is evidence toward each control it maps to, in every framework listed. It is evidence toward a control, not proof that the control is met on its own.
