Connect with an API token

  1. In Check Point CloudGuard:

    1. In CloudGuard, go to Settings › Account › Credentials.
    2. Under the V2 API section, click Create API Key.
    3. Copy the API key ID and the API Secret before closing the window; you cannot retrieve the secret afterwards.

Where to find the other values:

    • API key ID: Shown with the secret when you click Create API Key under Settings › Account › Credentials.

Check Point CloudGuard shows the secret only once, so copy it before you leave the page.

Check Point CloudGuard's public documentation does not cover every step.

Missing: how to bind the key to a read-only role (for example through a CloudGuard service account) and where the account's region or regional API endpoint is shown; neither was on the fetched page. A personal V2 API key acts with the permissions of the user who creates it, so create it as a user limited to read-only access.

The permissions Safeguard needs: read-only role.

  2. On Compliance › Connectors, open Check Point CloudGuard, click Connect, choose API token and fill in:

    FieldWhat to enter
    API key IDRequired.
API key secretRequired. Stored encrypted and never shown again.
    RegionRequired.
  3. Click Connect with token.

Frameworks

Safeguard's automated tests read Check Point CloudGuard and map to the controls below. When a test passes, the result is evidence toward each control it maps to, in every framework listed. It is evidence toward a control, not proof that the control is met on its own.
