Connect with an API token

  1. In ClearChecks:

    1. Sign in to your ClearChecks account (you must be an existing customer) and open the Developers section.
    2. Enter a Token Name and generate the token, then copy it.

ClearChecks's public documentation does not cover every step.

Source is the ClearChecks (formerly BackgroundChecks.com) support center. It names the Developers section and the Token Name field but not the exact button label, and does not say whether the token is shown only once. Developer docs live at app.backgroundchecks.com/developers/docs (sign-in). No read-only token type is documented; the base URL and account fields are not documented publicly.

    Source: support.backgroundchecks.com, checked 2026-10-07.

  2. On Compliance › Connectors, open ClearChecks, click Connect, choose API token and fill in:

    FieldWhat to enter
API token / Personal access tokenRequired. Stored encrypted and never shown again.
    Base URL (optional)—
Account / Org / Workspace (optional)—
  3. Click Connect with token.
